Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival 02.02.18

Welcome to the Groundhog Day edition of the Orvis News Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival, in which we scour the Web for the best fly-fishing videos available. (It’s also James Joyce’s birthday, for you literary geeks.) This week, we serve up a ten films with a trout-and-salmon focus, featuring destinations from New Zealand to New York and from Patagonia to Michigan. Salt lovers get thrown a bone–just a single bonefish video from the South Pacific. I’ll do better next week.

For best results, watch all videos at full-screen and in high definition. Remember, we surf so you don’t have to. But if you do stumble upon something great that you think is worthy of inclusion in a future F5, please post it in the comments below, and we’ll take a look.

And don’t forget to check out the awesome Orvis fly-fishing video theater: The Tug. As of today, there are exactly 1,435 great videos on the site!

We kick things off on the lower North Island of New Zealand, where troutboynz and his pal Peter venture deep into a stunning river valley.

Just a minute of Catskills magic from Jess Delo.

Southeast Alaska’s steelhead fishery is action-packed in this short video.

The Belousiha River on Russia’s Kola Pensinsula offers remarkable fishing for Atlantic salmon, as our Danish pal Frederik Laks Lorentzen discovered.

Northern Chilean Patagonia provides some killer hopper action, and the trout are gorgeous.

Some Midwestern goodness (and then some) in this trailer for an upcoming film festival.

Here’s the first episode of a cool series about a couple of guys fishing their way around the Southeast.

The video quality here isn’t great, but that’s a stunner of a bonefish from New Caledonia in the South Pacific.

Another festival trailer, this time from Big Sky Country.

Finally, the boys from Fly Fish the Mitt are making use of their new drone to offer great looks at their Michigan waters.
