Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival 01.19.18

Welcome to the latest edition of the Orvis News Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival, in which we scour the Web for the best fly-fishing videos available. This week, we serve up an even dozen films to inspire and entertain. From Florida to arctic Alaska, and from New Zealand to Bosnia, these scenes of anglers, fish, and incredible landscapes will hopefully help you forget that your local stream may be frozen over. Don’t miss the quiz question below film #1 or the powerful message in film #12.

For best results, watch all videos at full-screen and in high definition. Remember, we surf so you don’t have to. But if you do stumble upon something great that you think is worthy of inclusion in a future F5, please post it in the comments below, and we’ll take a look.

And don’t forget to check out the awesome Orvis fly-fishing video theater: The Tug. As of today, there are exactly 1,435 great videos on the site!

In case you missed it, we are incredibly proud of this Helios 3 “anthem” video by Rockhouse Motion. First person to guess who the narrator is and post the answer in the comments will win some cool stickers.

Here’s a gorgeous look at fly-fishing for steelhead and salmon in the Last Frontier.

Do you like lots of different kinds of music and fly-fishing for big redfish? Then you’re gonna love the latest episode of “The Gulf Coast Tour” from Broke and Fly.

Just under a minute of winter-fishing in Montana, by Joe Cummings.

When you need to scratch that tarpon itch, but you can’t get out on the flats, a Florida pond will do.

Bosnia’s Krušnica River looks like a wonderful place to cast to brown trout and grayling.

Three fishing friends hit the water on a snowy day.

From three waters in the Southwest comes this trippy little number, which is dreamlike in tone and features some cool shots.

The annual spring hatch of Skwalas in Montana draws anglers from around the country, and this trailer shows why.

“For a good time, make it ambush time.” Words to live by in New Zealand.

Chad Brown of Soul River, Inc. received the first annual Orvis Breaking Barriers Award back in 2015, and this great trailer is about a trip to far northern Alaska, where veterans mentored at-risk kids and changed their lives.

We finish up with a film from Trout Unlimited that’s both beautiful and powerful. It tells a story of family, grit, and legacy, all in support of sustaining a ranch at 10,000 feet that depends heavily on stewardship of the Colorado River.
